Sorry if this is a total tease (the list is closed) but here is a rad show I’m in tonight.
It’s in LA so, unfortunately, I can’t go. Someone take pictures of the event and all the art by awesome people!
Here’s the final pair after I spray coated them with gloss coat. It really brings out the day glo. POW!
Please note the mustaches for Mo-vember. And my favorite, the googly-eyed sneaks.
Sneaks on sneaks. Pretty much sums it up.
Of course, now that Opening Ceremony shoes I’ve been wanting are within my reach,
they don’t have a size 9.
Would you ever buy shoes that were a half-size or a full size too big or too small if they were on epic-sale? They’re open-toe, lace up, and sling back; maybe it’s an option?
Look, Jeffrey Campbell tried, and the verdict is clear: FAIL
Here are some other shoes that might satisfy my craving for a peep toe with a sling back with a wedge.
Too many trends all at once? Maybeeee
Jildor Marc by Marc Jacobs Patent strappy thing
Neiman Marcus Elizabeth and James
ELuxury Opening Ceremony Lace Up Wedge
Zappos BCBG Max Azria Harper.
These are sorta mall-girl but I kinda love them?
Bluefly Pour La Victoire Black Lace Elena Peep Toe Booties
I have no idea what the deal with Pour La Victoire is,
but they seem to be giving Jeffrey Campbell and Dolce Vita a run for their money.
Revolve Clothing Jill Stuart Melia Cut Out Wedge
Ok, and the following two are clearly not what I’m looking for, but Mary Janes still hold a place in my heart.
Saks Repetto Mary Jane
Bluefly Velvet Angels Black Strappy Flats.
Don’t think I’ve forgotten about the original version of these!
I have been scouting out the sales on teh internets. Looking for Lover, Opening Ceremony, 3.1 by Phillip Lim, and Rachel Comey items to drop in price. Here are some cute pieces I’ve found.

After a trek to Red Hook’s Fairway for Thanksgiving Day supplies, James drove me to Bird in Park Slope. A pair of Loeffler Randall lace-up boots were niceee. And very expensive. So expensive the sales girl said she hadn’t risked trying them on. I tried them on anyway. I never know when something will appear on Ebay and if the fit is ok. Then I stumbled upon these dead ringers for the “Matilde” made by BCBG Girls. Adventures in Copyright? Sure. I don’t buy 700 dollar boots.

I am on the hunt for a pair of rubber boots for the upcoming gross season. I’m torn between trying to find a pair of simple black boots from Target or J Crew to replace my stolen Hunter boots, or getting a pair of clunky classic Duck Boots from LLBean

I am trying to get work through the efforts of a creative staffing agency. They listed a job that requires “hand drawn packaging” and I want it. I want my art on perfume, some blush, and a carton of ice cream!
I gathered together a gaggle that showed I can draw. Here are a few.

I want a pair of brown vintage loafers or oxfords for fall. Penny loafers. Shoes with tassels. Fringe. Something that maybe Maggie Smith would have worn in The Prime of Jean Brodie. Even saddle shoes have been looking rather appealing after seeing all these photos of Tennessee Thomas traipsing about with Mark Ronson.
Dug back into the ebay addiction. I haven’t bid on anything yet, but I’ve got my eye on these babies.
Summer aint over yet.
(PIX MISSING — BLAME FLICKR!!)
Kicking into Fall.
My youngest sister, Julie, and I recently collaborated on a short film inspired by Namuth’s film “Jackson Pollock ’51.” Of course, ours is far more childlike. Especially because it features whimsical imagery informing my work and my awkward hand drawing and painting to the tune of St. Vincent and Vampire Weekend.
You may also notice that the finished painting recently became the basis for my first Vans sneaker.

Rebecca and I share an art studio we nicknamed the “Secret Society.” It’s in Williamsburg above the Roebling Tea Room and there has been a great array of artists and friends populating our floor since we moved in two years ago.
One of my old bosses at the New Yorker (when I was an intern) used to be next door, the boys from Mishka NYC were down the hall, and now Eric Elms is across from us.
I joke that Eric is a modern day Oldenburg. His new kick seems to be building these oversize installations, be they sneakers with huge laces, giant joints, or pop phrases in wood and fabric for clients like Stussy and Nike. Every so often, he’ll come by our studio and enlist Rebecca to sew something. The photo below is a joint she created per his specifications.
He’s having a party to open the installation at the old Nike ID store in Nolita this Wednesday. It’s part of (also an old boss) Aaron Rose’s Beautiful Loser project and should be quite a rad eyeful.
This is me. 27. New APC dress. Lots of Golden acrylic paint. At Nordstroms, about to work on my huge plexi glass painting.

James took this in Mission Viejo on the second date of my “sneaker tour.” I have yellow paint on my nose, but I don’t know if you can tell.
