New Tees

I like getting google notifications that my wares are for sale. Today I discovered a tee of mine, “Kiss of Death,” is currently available at Urban Outfitters UK. Too bad the wrinkles make the girl’s eyes look a lil “special.”

Another one of my tees is now being carried at  Oak — a great boutique with locations in Williamsburg and in Manhattan on Bond Street. They’ll be getting in my Charlotte Rampling tee, “The Night Porter,” shortly. I think they’re mostly for dudes right now, but the Blood is the New Black website has ladies sizes.

Pen & Ink

I’ve been drawing and painting ladies in varying states of undress for a couple of seasons: bikini clad girls fighting, centerfolds painted in enamel, x-rated collages. There’s been a variety of references and homages to my favorite muses and films, be they Marianne Faithful, Mia Farrow in Secret Ceremony or Charlotte Rampling in The Night Porter.

The last few shirt graphics I did for Blood is the New Black explored similar themes, while taping into darker motifs and several referencing my relationship to Ancient Egyptian iconography. I just found out that Oak (one of my favorite stores) will be carrying two of my shirts from my  recent “film series.” Here they are:

New Shirts

Here are two of my t-shirt designs for the next Blood is the New Black collection. All are black and white, and except this “lil sneak” graphic tee, they’re graphic in… other ways. Lots of x-rated loving going on courtesy of seventies porno stills reworked and redrawn.

Of course, if we don’t get orders, they’ll never be produced.  I’m keeping my fingers crossed that I’ll be taking photos of them on actual tees.

Skateboard Gifting

I am giving skateboards as presents for the holidays. The designs were created for Blood is the New Black via ArtsProjekt via Zazzle. Complicated, I know.

The company hasn’t even mailed me a single deck despite getting a cut of my sales. So, like a loser, I’m bought four of my own decks to photograph and then give away.
Crossing my fingers that the quality is good.

Illustrated Tees

I’ve been working on some new Blood is the New Black shirt designs. Usually, I come up with the concept and colors and placement, but I’m interested to see what happens if it’s a collaboration between friends. I gave a gigantic file of my illustrations to David and he cooked these up. I like how simple they are. I don’t think it even needs color.

Paper Magazine

I just discovered my Blood is the New Black “Good Cheer” tee in the newest issue of Paper magazine featuring Lily Allen munching on an In and Out Burger. Actress Misty Upham looks like a bad ass and the portrait reminds me of one of my old illustrations. Fitting, no?

Skate or Die

I’ve spent the past two days coming up with skateboard graphics for Blood is the New Black’s new series of decks.

I skateboarded all throughout high school. And when I get drunk, sometimes I’ll hop on a nearby friends board (despite wearing 3-inch stilettos) and cruise through the l.e.s. and manage to stay on task. No tricks though. Safe to say, this assignment is right up my alley.
