I’m big into textile design and pattern configurations. And quilts. Although, I haven’t really figured out a non-Anthropologie/Shabby Chic way to incorporate them into my life except in the form of my enamel paintings on not-so-soft birch.
When I was eight, I hand-sewed a pink and purple tiny floral (perhaps it was even liberty print) patchwork quilt. My mom entered it into the Marin Needlework and Quilt show and my lil guy got an honorable mention. But of course, I was competing against precocious five year olds. Not surprisingly, the win was quickly packed away, never to be used because “I’d ruin it.” And wouldn’t have the joy of passing down this “heirloom” to future spawn.

The first one is a Bauhaus quilt by Gunta Stölzl. These quilts come from my new blog discovery Reference Library where entries consist of rad mid-century furniture and graphic design. And a majority of the finds come from Ebay “items I didn’t win.” Love it.
